A LITTLE HELP, WHEN YOU NEED IT

Keep your plan.
Find your rhythm.

Start small, keep a backup and make each example fit your household. Here are answers to the things most likely to interrupt a good week.

Make your first plan

  1. Open the planner. Enter a household label and optional names or initials.
  2. Choose the first day of your week. Under Household, choose a date that belongs to Week A.
  3. Add a task, choose its days and set it to every week, A or B. Start with two or three repeatable jobs.
  4. Check off a task on its date. Next week gets a new check without deleting the routine.

My A/B week looks wrong

Open Household and check both the first day of your week and the Week A anchor. The calendar week containing that anchor is A; the following week is B. An anchor is a reference point, not the first date you are allowed to plan. A timetable break does not automatically pause the rotation. Adjust the anchor if your real timetable restarts differently.

Move a plan to another device or address

  1. In the browser where your plan exists, open Household → Download backup.
  2. Keep the JSON file somewhere you trust. It contains the whole plan, including labels and checks.
  3. Open Zanfam in the destination browser. Choose Household → Import backup.
  4. Read the import summary before confirming replacement. Back up an existing destination plan first if you want to keep it.

A preview address and zanfam.com use separate browser storage. A move between them needs the same backup and import steps. Import is a copy, not ongoing sync.

My saved plan is missing or will not save

First check that you are using the same address, browser and browser profile. Private browsing, clearing site data and storage restrictions can affect a saved plan. If the app shows a storage warning, download a backup before closing the page. If another tab changes the household, review the newly loaded version and repeat your change.

If saved data cannot be read, the planner keeps the original data available for a recovery download. Keep that file before choosing to clear the household. Zanfam has no server copy from which to restore deleted local data.

Print a week, checklist or worksheet

In the planner, Print / PDF opens your browser’s print options. Choose paper size and margins in that dialog, or Save as PDF if your browser supports it. The weekly print includes all members, even when the screen is filtered. For another route, use Download printable, open the HTML file and print it from your browser. Meal exports include a separate shopping sheet.

Check the print preview before printing. Long task names and large lists use extra pages. The worksheets include checkboxes and writing space; they do not update when you later change the browser plan.

Keep a week or routine as a template

Save this week captures all members’ tasks in the displayed week, without checkmarks. Save recurring routines captures the days and A/B rules of recurring tasks. Find, rename, apply or delete your saved snapshots under Templates. They are included in your household backup.

Apply a template to a future week or choose Copy to a future week from your plan. Review the destination dates, A/B week, added tasks, skipped matches and any earlier copy being replaced. New tasks are dated, one-time copies and start unchecked. Your original routines and Week A anchor remain unchanged. Replacement only affects an earlier copy from that same source into that same destination week.

Take a dated copy into your calendar

Choose Calendar export, then explicitly select a start date, end date, member and tasks. The date range includes both ends and supports up to 366 days or 5,000 events. A/B routines are expanded to their actual dates, alongside one-time tasks.

The downloaded .ics file uses all-day events. Its dates do not shift across time zones or daylight-saving changes. No alarms are included. Import it into a calendar you trust: the file includes household and member labels. This is an export, not live sync or guaranteed reminders. Re-import handling depends on the calendar app; later edits and deletions in Zanfam do not update the calendar copy.

Reuse a packing list

Reset checks keeps the list and clears its packed marks. Duplicate makes a fresh, unchecked copy for a separate trip. Delete removes a list after confirmation. Add your own quantities and final travel requirements; examples cannot cover every destination or household.

Understand the reference tools

Regional week conventions uses a bundled Unicode CLDR release for 257 territories. Its week starts and weekends are calendar conventions, not a school or employer timetable. Fields without a territory-specific value use the documented global default.

UK bank holidays uses a dated GOV.UK snapshot for England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The current snapshot covers 2019–2028. Follow the official source link for current announcements and check your own school or workplace calendar separately.
